1st Dec 2012 to 30th Dec 2012
Based at Seagreens, on the East Coast of Scotland, David Mackie Cook is very much inspired by his surroundings and his closeness to nature. When moved to paint, the artist can spend up to 20 hours painting at a time (without break). His expressionist landscapes and seascapes of the East Coast of Scotland are captured in his distinctive loose style – rugged coastlines, wild seas and tempestuous skies – similar in essence to the works of MacTaggart and Eardley who were both inspired by the same location.
This body of work, “Seagreens Recollection”, concentrates on the vivid landscapes found on his doorstep throughout the seasons and is also peppered with some pieces from his overseas trips and still life compositions with wild flowers from his garden.
“Seagreens Recollections” (click to view) starts on Saturday 1 December 2012 and runs until the end of the year.
