Born in Glasgow, John Kingsley studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art under James Robertson, Geoffrey Squire and David Donaldson.
He has exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute, Royal Scottish Academy and the Paisley Institute (which promotes contemporary art through its annual exhibition and also organises the prestigious Scottish Drawing Competition biannually).
A full time painter with a very successful exhibition record in recent years, Kingsley was a finalist in the Hunting/Observer Art Prizes in 1989 and 1993 and has won the William Bowie Landscape prize and the Mary Armour Award.
With an international reputation, Kingsley has works in many public and private collections across Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA and includes HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, Argyle and Bute District Council and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow amongst a growing number of UK based collectors.
